clip_image002Police in Edinburgh have released a CCTV image of a man they wish to trace in connection with their enquiries into an assault and robbery in Edinburgh last year.

A 70-year-old woman was entering the common stair of her home in Persevere Court around 10pm on Sunday 18th November when a man approached and engaged her in conversation.

He then grabbed hold of the victim’s handbag and pulled it from her shoulder, causing her to fall and be dragged for a short period of time.
The suspect then made off from the area and police were contacted.

Officers are now keen to trace the male pictured in the CCTV images to assist with their enquiries.

Detective Constable Steven Livingstone said: “Fortunately the elderly victim was not seriously injured as a result of this incident, but was understandably shaken by the ordeal.

“The male in the CCTV footage is of interest to our enquiries and he or anyone who recognises him is asked to contact police immediately.

“Similarly, anyone with any other information that can assist with our investigation is also urged to come forward.”

Those with information can contact Police Scotland on 101, or the charity Crimestoppers in complete anonymity on 0800 555 111.
