The Edinburgh Reporter Fire Engine at Tollcross Fire Station

At around half past eight this morning a car caught fire in the city centre today prompting some passers-by to think there was an explosion of some kind.

Scottish Fire and Rescue Service were called to deal with the vehicle which was in flames at the junction of Hanover Street and Thistle Street.

A crew from Tollcross Fire station attended the incident. After extinguishing the burning Vauxhall Zafira, they remained to make the car safe and then cleared the debris from the street.
