A food co-op and community information point is set to open next week in Pennywell Shopping Centre. Local group Tenants and Residents in Muirhouse (TRIM) have set up the shop along with Julie Crawford from community project Link Up.
The shop which will sell quality fruit and vegetables in the old butcher shop which closed down last year after nearly thirty years trading in the shopping centre.
This great initiative was put together following a community information day held last year when many local people visited the shop for information. It was then decided to try and set the shop up on a permanent basis.
A spokesperson from TRIM said:- “We are delighted that the community will have what it needs. The shop will hopefully see many more residents using the centre. We would also like to Thank Julie Crawford for her support. It will be run by the community for community, selling good quality food and vegetables at affordable prices.”
The shop will be open for business on Monday morning so pop in and say hello and the food c0-op opens on Tuesday 30 April 2013 at 9am.
