Allandale Tarn bosses have confirmed that the trout fishery near West Calder is now closed due to the current high temperatures.

Iona Allan, the fishery owner, said their aerator is on and the barley straw has arrived to make an floating shading island, but she said: “We are going to close the doors for a spell until it cools down.”

She will update anglers when she had any news.

Nearby Morton Fishings confim that the venue will be closed on Thursday, June 25, due to the heat. Bosses hope to re-open on Friday morning at 8am.

In East Lothian, Newlands Tweeddale was closed on Wednesday and is due to be shut on Thursday because of the heatwave.
