Mayfield Bowling Club on the south side of Edinburgh, which celebrated its 150th anniversary last year, has marked the milestone by providing a defibrillator which can also be accessed by the community.
Club president, Scott Kearsley, and members of the club committee were joined by local MP, Ian Murray, who unveiled the defibrillator on the Cobden Road site.
The location of the defibrillator has been shared with the Scottish Ambulance Service to provide them with an additional resource in case of nearby emergencies.
The club launched a fundraising campaign to raise the money to have the defibrillator installed. Donations were made by a wide range of individuals and groups from across Edinburgh.
Scott Kearsley said: “I would like to thank all those who contributed to the fundraising effort – Mayfield members, the wider bowling community in Edinburgh and individuals who accessed the crowd funding page.”
Mr Murray, said: “This is an essential tool that could save lives in the critical moments following a cardiac arrest.
“Equipment like this provides a lifesaving chance to someone in desperate need. Community defibrillators in other parts of Edinburgh have been used by the public and in many instances have saved lives.”
- Donations currently stand at £1150 including £150 From Hillside Bowling Club.
