D&G Autocare has announced that it has teamed up with Moove Lubricants to offer Mobil l, the world’s premier synthetic engine oil brand, to further help to reduce its carbon footprint.

The firm is now using ExxonMobil’s innovative “Mobil Boxx” product in all of its garages, a smart packaging solution that uses less landfill waste, needs less storage space, and is far more convenient and cleaner than conventionally packaged oil.

The firm says the 20L container contains 85% less plastic than a traditional 20L pail, and in contrast to 208 litre drums, it is much lighter and easier to handle. With no additional pumping system required, as well as sealed packaging, there’s less chance of oil being contaminated or  leaking onto garage forecourts, avoiding the need for harsh cleaning chemicals.

D&G Autocare Operations Director, Pete Wood said: “We are extremely pleased to announce that we’re one of the very first independent garage groups in the UK to be working with Moove Lubricants and Mobil, using this highly innovative product.

“Along with the fact that Boxx generates significantly less waste, which helps to lower our carbon footprint, Mobil is very much the Rolls Royce of the oil world, a high-quality product for our customers’ vehicles. We have come up with the slogan “At your Service – your fill is Mobil!”

“Feedback so far, from our mechanics who have been using Mobil Boxx on a daily basis, has been very positive,” added Pete. “Mobil, who incidentally were the only oil products able to meet our particular needs, provides plenty of information and support on how the product can be safely installed and used in a garage.”

Pete went on to explain that D&G Autocare, established now for two decades, had always been ahead of the curve when it came to environmental responsibility.

He said: “We have solid working partnerships with a number of fully licensed waste management companies.

“We are very proud of the fact that, in 2010, before it became law, we were one of the first companies in the UK to segregate all of our waste to ensure that only a minimum was going to landfill.”

D&G also recycle and refine used oil which has been being extracted from vehicles during servicing into new lubricating oil. The firm say this process produces 30% less carbon emissions when compared to refining crude oil.

End of life tyres are also recycled to make new products, to create energy for the home, and for electric vehicles, whilst old metal, whether brake components, springs, or exhausts, are melted down into raw components, to make anything from bridges, to new brakes components, to new springs and exhausts.

Elaine Friel, Key Account Manager for Moove Lubricants, said: “D&G Autocare is to be commended for its environmental initiatives, leading the way amongst the independent sectors. We are delighted to have D&G as a partner using Mobil Boxx. It demonstrates that a busy garage network can still put environmental initiatives at the very heart of its operation, with no compromise to its customers, who, in this case, are benefitting with a market leading oil.”

D&G has garages in Edinburgh, Livingston, South Gyle, Whitburn and Musselburgh.
