A young Hibs Development Squad led by Guillaume Beuzelin drew 2-2 with Gala Fairydean Rovers in front of the iconic Netherdale stand in Galashiels last night.
Boozy selected a team made up of U18s but first team squad members Rudi Molotnikov and Rory Whittaker both missed the game as they are away on international duty with the Scotland Under 19s.
Jacob McIntyre who earlier this week signed a contract extention started the match.
Gala Fairydean Rovers who are managed by former Hibs player Martin ‘Jimmy’ Scott play their football in the Lowland League and currently sit 16th with four points after nine games.
A larger than usual crowd took advantage of the reduced prices and were rewarded with some fine football from both sides.
After an evenly fought opening period, the visitors took the lead in the 15th minute when Dean Cleland fired the ball into the net from 12-yards after Gala’s keeper was unable to hold a shot.
But the hosts fought back and equalised nine minutes before the break with a superbly struck effort from outside the area by Kieran Dolan.
That left the score 1-1 at the break.
The Borderers almost took the lead shortly after the restart with a powerful free-kick which rebounded off the post.
But it was Hibs who took the lead when Cleland grabbed his second of the night from close range after some tremendous wing play by Jamie McMurdo
Gala levelled the score in the 76th minute when substitute Joe Wylie finished off a great passing move by firing the ball past the keeper from eight yards.
Both sets of players left the field to a well-deserved ovation from the fans.
