The Philharmonia Orchestra under the direction of their Principal Conductor, Santtu-Matias Rouvali, magnificently provided the music for Giuseppe Verdi’s Requiem.
Of course, the stunning singing of the Edinburgh Festival Chorus never fails to thrill and alongside magnificent solos and more from soprano Masabane Cecilia Rangwanasha, mezzo soprano Jennifer Johnston, tenor René Barbera, and bass Tareq Nazmi, the hall was glorious in sonorous spectacle.
No matter how many times I hear this piece, a shiver ripples up and down my spine, particularly during the Dies Irae.
Breathtaking, astonishing, fabulous.
