Balerno Bowling Club’s initiative to encourage new members into the sport has surpassed expectations.
So far, 18 new members have been signed and the Monday evening sessions will continue to the end of August in a bid to recruit even more locals.
Bill Stark, the club secretary, is delighted with the response and said: “We have welcomed 18 people to the sessions and all have joined which is of tremendous benefit to the club.
“We will continue the sessions until the end of August and we would look to continue the initiative next season.”
He added: “The sessions started with coaching and we progressed into games and two of the attendees have already played in club teams, one in the ladies and another in the senior men, which is tremendous.
“We would hope that other participants would follow them into the teams and this is once again good for the club.”
