HRH The King left Edinburgh around lunchtime on Thursday after a shorter than usual Royal Week due to the General Election today.

After his motorcade swept along Queen Street just after 12.30 complete with police outriders, His Majesty boarded a Dassault Falcon 900LX plane decorated with a Union Jack on the tail fin at the private area of Edinburgh Airport.

The plane, which is owned by the UK Government, was bound for Northolt where it landed just after 2pm. It is likely that the King may have to meet the Prime Minister in London in the coming days after the election results are known.
