The General Assembly of the Church of Scotland has appointed Dr Mike Cantlay, OBE, as Convener of its Social Care Council. Mike will chair the Board of CrossReach, one of Scotland’s largest third-sector care providers.  

Mike admire the work that CrossReach does, when his own mother entered care in 2018 and he has been a strong advocate for the organisation ever since.

Having joined the CrossReach Board in 2020, Mike brings with him a wealth of experience and a strong commitment to supporting and advancing social care services in Scotland.

Mike currently serves as the publicly appointed Chair of the Scottish Funding Council and was previously elected Convener of the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park Authority and at one point Chair of VisitScotland, Forth Valley College and Chair of Highlands and Islands Airports Ltd.

He has also been an advisory member of the Board of Scottish Enterprise and VisitBritain in London.  Additionally, Mike is CEO of his own business that sells Scottish manufactured goods in the USA and Canada. 

Mr Cantlay said: “I am honoured to take on this new role and work alongside the dedicated teams at CrossReach. I have witnessed firsthand the incredible impact of CrossReach’s services when they cared for my mother, and I am truly passionate about supporting and enhancing social care across Scotland.”
