Airport transfer

Edinburgh Airport – or a half share of it – has been acquired in a deal by VINCI Airports a French firm which has many other airports in its portfolio including Belfast and Gatwick. This will not change the day to day operation for now – the existing management keep their jobs in the acquisition.

MP for Edinburgh West Christine Jardine said: “I have been reassured that this purchase will come with no negative implications for the jobs of current airport staff. This will be welcome news for my constituents in Edinburgh West.

“I look forward to meeting with representatives from VINCI and hearing their plans to provide the best possible customer experience for my constituents, as well as the many visitors our city welcomes every day.”

Dresden Philharmonic

Although the RSNO concert on Friday is sold out there is another opportunity to hear classical music this weekend with Sunday Classics at Usher Hall. A spokesperson for Usher Hall said: “During the last decade, the Dresden Philharmonic have performed several memorable concerts at Usher Hall. We’re very pleased to have back in our series this leading German orchestra under its conductor Stanislav Kochanovsky.

“The concert will start with Mussorgsky’s evocative Prelude to his opera Khovanshchina and will be followed by Maria Ioudenitch’s interpretation of one of the most popular violin concerti of all time; Mendelssohn’s delightful Violin Concerto in E minor.”
