Although a formal announcement has yet to be made by the Conservatives, it appears that the Conservative candidate for the March by election is the same as last year – Hugh Findlay – who is photographed third from the left below.

Mr Findlay is Chairman of the Edinburgh Conservative and Unionist Association, working as a Product Analyst with AND Digital in the capital. He previously worked with RBS and the Natwest Group as a Business Analyst.

We have asked Mr Findlay to talk to us so that we can tell you more about him.

The by election has been caused by the resignation of former Lord Provost Frank Ross and voting will take place on 9 March.

And although there has been no formal announcement as yet, we know this is the case as Sue Webber MSP tweeted the news last weekend when she was out campaigning in the ward.

This is the manifesto on which 9 Conservative councillors were elected last May when the Labour Group took power as a minority administration with 12 elected members. Of these, Cllr Joanna Mowat has a position as Convener of the Licensing Sub-Committee which is a paid position.
