Hibs’ Head Coach Jack Ross praised his players’ performance in last night’s 3-2 victory over Hamilton but was frustrated that they were forced to run down the clock to secure the three points after Accies fought back from 3-0 down.

Hibs were outstanding in the opening 45-minutes creating chance after chance and went in at the break with a two goal advantage thanks to two superb goals from Kevin Nisbet.

In addition, Christian Doidge had a great chance to make it 3-0 but the Hamilton goalkeeper produced a great save to deny the Welshman then Bobby Madden ruled out a penalty appeal after Joe Newell was brought down inside the area.

Hibs continued to press forward in the second half but had to settle for one more thanks to a Paul Hanlon header although debutant keeper Kyle Gourlay made a string of fine saves to deny Nisbet, Doidge and Martin Boyle.

Hamilton fought back and scored twice but the Hibs’ players displayed good game management to secure the victory.

Speaking to Hibernian TV after the final whistle Ross said: “Given our performance level tonight, the only frustrating thing was having to run the clock down in the last part of the game because for the vast majority of that game we were really good.

“How we moved the ball, the opportunities we created and the tempo and purpose about our play was excellent but it’s a little bit frustrating that there was some sloppiness crept in and forced into that position.

“Hamilton never gave up on the game and forced it but we will look at that over the course of the week but there was loads of good things about tonight’s game.

“We are lighter in numbers this year. I wanted to try and do that for a couple of reasons. We have had to trade our way to enable us to bring good quality players into the club and make our squad skinnier to do that.

“ I like the tightness of the numbers. We have a brilliant group we have in there. They are really good to work with every day.”
