Edinburgh care home getting ready to celebrate first anniversary in style

A care home in Edinburgh is inviting the local community to help mark its first birthday, in true Scottish fashion.

On Friday 29 November 2019, from 2.00pm-4.00pm, Care UK’s Murrayside, on South Beechwood, will open its doors for a St Andrew’s Day-themed birthday bash.

Guests are invited to wear tartan and will have the opportunity to tap their feet to live entertainment, including performances from Highland dancers and a piper. There will also be Scottish country dance music to keep everyone in the party spirit.

Residents and visitors will be treated to a selection of delicious Scottish food specially prepared by Murrayside’s chefs, including haggis nibbles and shortbread.

Michelle Reid, home manager at Murrayside, said: “We’re really excited to be celebrating our first birthday. Welcoming the first residents has been extra special, and the past year has been a complete whirlwind – we’ve opened our doors to all sorts of animals, participated in The Big Draw Festival, raised funds for Alzheimer Scotland, and even hosted an American choir and Sarawak musicians from Borneo. All in our first year!

“We are very proud of the strong relationships we’ve built with local organisations and the people of Edinburgh, and this event is a great opportunity to invite everyone to join us for what promises to be a fantastic day of celebrations, in true Scottish fashion!”

Murrayside care home has been specially designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives, while also promoting independence. The care home incorporates space for hobby and leisure activities, and has its own cinema, hair salon and café.
