One of Edinburgh’s luxury hotels has won a top accolade at the prestigious Scottish Hotel Awards – less than a year after its
reopening following a devastating fire.
Nira Caledonia took home the ‘Boutique Hotel of the Year’ award, with judges citing its extensive refurbishment and charming history among its unique and quintessentially Scottish selling points.
The 14th annual Scottish Hotel Awards, celebrating the accomplishments of Scotland’s best hotels and hospitality professionals, took place at the Crowne Plaza Glasgow and were hosted by Carol Smilie.
Chris Lynch, General Manager at Nira Caledonia said: “We are
delighted that our reputation extends beyond our guests and into the industry. We pride ourselves on providing a world-class experience for our guests and with this award, it is clear that we are doing just that.
“It has been a difficult journey to get to where we are now, but we always had a vision for the hotel. To have that recognised is a definite high point in its history.”
As a design-led, fashionable hotel with premium touches, Nira Caledonia exceeded the judging criteria for Boutique Hotel of the Year.
The hotel scooped a hat trick at the regional finals of the Scottish Hotel Awards, taking home the awards for Boutique Hotel and Whisky Bar, with Revenue and Reservations Manager Matt Goldyn coming out on top in the Revenue Manager category.
Nira Caledonia reopened its doors to the public just in time for summer 2018 following a £1.4 million intensive project
to restore half of the hotel devastated by a fire in 2017.
It is part of Shanti Hospitality, a hotel and leisure company with a focus on building and developing exceptional assets and brands. There are two other properties in the Nira portfolio : Nira Alpina in St Moritz and Shanti Maurice in Mauritius.
Rooms at Nira Caledonia start at £159.
