Hibs’ Head Coach Neil Lennon insists that he is not getting carried away despite consolidating second place in the table with a magnificent 6-0 victory over Hamilton at Easter Road on Saturday.

The Northern Irishman pointed out that Hibs now face Celtic, Rangers and Hearts in the coming weeks and he anticipates a tough time.

Lennon also took time to praise his players particularly Stevie Mallan whose two superb long-range strikes took his tally to nine this season, all from outside the area, comparing him to Celtic legend Lubo Moravcik.

Speaking after the final whistle, Lennon said: “We are in a good place and playing some great football but we’re not getting carried away. We play Celtic Rangers and Hearts and we will be tested. It’s only eight games. After 20 we will see where we are.

“We may have been fortunate with the run of games but we have some big games coming up that will test us.

“A result like this has been coming. We have been dominating games and creating lots of chances. It’s very pleasing that the players have been rewarded.

“Kamberi has been a revelation and Boyle has been great as well. Ambrose again was outstanding and Milligan has been important and at 0-0 we needed our goalkeeper Bogdan.

“He’s an enigma really, I’ve never seen anyone hot the ball as consistently well as that since the Moravcik days.

“He puts a dip or a bend on it 20 to 25 yards out and you are disappointed if he doesn’t work the goalkeeper. That’s nine goals he had got from midfield already which is exceptional going at this stage of the season. We are delighted with him.”

Lennon also commiserated with Hamilton manager Martin Canning who has done well at the Lanarkshire club.

He continued: “We’ve all been there. I remember being in Barcelona and being 3-0 down at half-time and I said to Charlie Mulgrew go on there and stop the bleeding. It was 4-0 after 46 minutes, so we’ve all been on the end of it.

“Of course I have sympathy for Martin but I am not patronising him, he’s done an amazing job and he’ll continue to do so.

“Pound for pound he’s getting results he really shouldn’t be getting. We were due a win today, so it was unfortunate for Hamilton.”
