The Lord Provost will lead a special group of wreath-layers at the annual Opening Ceremony of the Edinburgh Garden of Remembrance, at the Scott Monument, Princes Street Gardens, Edinburgh, on Monday morning (29 October) at 11am.

Members of the Armed Forces community, including veterans, will attend the poignant event which marks the start of the traditional two-week Remembrance period. This year it has added significance as it concludes on the day 100 years ago that saw the signing of the Armistice that brought about the end of the First World War.

After the ceremony when the Garden of Remembrance is declared open, guests and members of the public alike will then move into Poppyscotland’s Field of Remembrance.

A sea of 8,500 stunning memorials has been created from thousands of Remembrance symbols that have been returned to the charity from supporters across the country and beyond.
