There will be a subtitled screening of Star Wars: The Last Jedi will take place on Wednesday 20 December at Vue Omni Centre after an anonymous deaf blogger began a quest to find a venue to watch the movie during her honeymoon.
Deafinitely Girly from London took to Twitter to find a screening of the blockbuster with subtitles in Edinburgh so she could watch Star Wars with her new husband during their honeymoon in the city.
Robert Smith, General Manager at Vue Omni Centre, said: “When we spotted Deafinitely Girly’s quest we were only too happy to help as we strongly believe the big screen experience should be enjoyed by all. We are over the moon the newly-weds will be able to enjoy a special date night with us during their trip.”
Deafinitely Girly, who published a blog post about the screening, added: “I can’t thank Vue enough for giving us a honeymoon date night in Edinburgh to watch The Last Jedi with subtitles.
“When they responded to the tweets from me and my followers, I couldn’t believe it. I hope other deaf people in Edinburgh will also take this opportunity to come and enjoy Star Wars on the big screen.”
