Police are investigating following a robbery in Broomhouse Grove which  initially occurred around 12.30pm on Friday, November 3 in Clerk Street when a 15-year-old boy boarded a number three Lothian Buses vehicle.

While he was on the bus he became aware of two unknown male youths sitting behind him.  The youths followed the 15-year-old after he got off  at Calder Road, outside Scotmid, around 1pm through the underpass and into Broomhouse Grove.

The pair threatened the 15-year-old with a glass Irn-Bru bottle and stole his bag and phone.  They then left the area in the direction of Calder Road.

The victim was uninjured as a result of the attack. The bag was later recovered from a different group of youths who had witnessed the incident.

Police were contacted a short time later and officers are now appealing for witnesses.

No formal suspect descriptions are available at this time, however both youths were wearing their hoods up with either balaclavas or scarves covering their faces.

Detective Constable Peter Lyons of Corstorphine CID said:  “This was a frightening attack on a young man, which has left him badly upset.

“We will not tolerate this type of attack in our communities and with this in mind we are eager to trace the two male suspects as soon as possible.  We also wish to speak to the group of youths who assisted in the return of the victim’s bag.

“I would urge anyone who saw the pair on the number three bus or in the Calder Road area, around lunchtime on Friday, November 3, and saw anything suspicious, to get in touch with us as soon as possible.”

Those with information can contact officers at Corstorphine CID on 101, quoting incident number 1823 of November 3, or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
