Marathonbet will donate £500 to the Hibs Community Foundation following Simon Murray’s winning Edinburgh Derby goal celebration last night.
Hibernian’s main club sponsor paid a visit to the training centre in September to give the striker a Goal Celebration Makeover – with the supporters voting ‘Simon Says’ as their favourite celebration.
Murray couldn’t have chosen a bigger occasion as he picked up the ball from Brandon Barker in the 3rd minute, nutmegged Hearts’ John Souttar, before lashing the ball home with a devastating strike and celebrating with the supporters’ voted celebration – ‘Simon Says’!
After the match, Murray said: “It doesn’t get much better than that, under the lights on a Tuesday night! I certainly went nuts when the goal went in. I think that’s £500 to charity which is great but obviously it’s a goal I’ll never forget.”
Each time the striker performs the celebration during a match after scoring, Marathonbet will donate £500 to the Hibernian Community Foundation.
Fans will be hoping to see a lot more of ‘Simon Says’ with Murray already bagging 11 goals in all competitions this season for Neil Lennon’s men.
Last year supporters voted to re-vamp Grant Holt’s celebration with the popular ‘Incredible Holt’ effort. Holt went on to score and perform his new antics against Hearts in the cup, as well as in league games against the likes of St Mirren and Raith Rovers.
Fans were soon sending in their own videos of the Incredible Holt online – and the celebration became a cult classic that raised £2,500 for charity. Murray will be hoping to outdo his predecessor this season!
