Dmitir Khristich arrives this weekend ahead of the new season for Edinburgh Capitals.

Edinburgh Capitals new coach Dmitri Khristich arrives this weekend ahead of the club’s pre-season clash with the University of Manitoba Bisons on Tuesday 29 August (7.30pm face-off).

The tourists are in Britain to play four games against Elite League opponents.

They face Belfast Giants before coming to Murrayfield and they also play Braehead Clan.

The Glasgow club’s new head coach John Tripp has told success-hungry fans: “Don’t expect success overnight.”

The Glasgow side suffered back-to-back defeats at Cardiff Devils (5-0) and Nottingham Panthers (4-2).

Tripp said: “It’s a whole new team, new coach and a lot of guys coming over from North America for the first time.”

He added: “They did a lot better against Nottingham on Sunday than they did on Saturday. There’s a lot of chemistry to build.

“I was pleased with the levels the guys showed but there is still a lot of work to do. I’m looking forward at what is to come.”
