A view of the hostel sleeping arrangements

An Asian-inspired capsule hotel has become a major draw for Chinese and Asian visitors to the Edinburgh.

The Rose Street-based CODE Pod Hostel celebrates its third anniversary in September and bookings from Asia represent 26 per cent of total visitors ahead of the UK’s 23 per cent.

The concept is suited to Edinburgh where affordable accommodation is much sought after, especially in the peak summer months and during the Edinburgh International Festival.

Andrew Landsburgh, founder and managing director, said: “The hostel provides a solution to visitors looking for high-quality, central and affordable accommodation.”

Bosses are now looking to expand the concept to cities including Dublin, London, Madrid, Paris, Boston and Los Angeles.
