Hibs’ midfielder Martin Boyle has signed a two-year contract extension with the club.
the 24-year-old initially joined Hibs on loan in January 2015, but made his move permanent in the following transfer window.
Boyle was a member of a squad which has won the William Hill Scottish Cup and the Ladbrokes Championship in back-to-back years, playing 93 times for Hibernian and scoring 18 goals.
On signing his new contract, the player told the club website: “I’m really pleased to be staying here at Hibs. Ever since I made my debut for the club I’ve enjoyed my time here and when I was offered a new deal it was hard to say no – especially as I’ve made so many good memories in the two and a half years.
“My goal when I first joined was to win promotion back to the top flight and it was great to achieve that last year. I’m really looking forward to the next campaign and playing in the Premiership at Easter Road.”
Hibernian Head Coach Neil Lennon said: “Keeping a hold of Martin is a real positive for the club. He can play in a variety of positions and always gives 100%, and his pace is a great asset to have.
“His game isn’t just about pace, he can also score goals, lay on assists and is able to help us transition from defence to attack. Personally, I’m really glad that he has stayed on for the next two years.”
John graduated from Telford College in 2010 with an HNC in Practical Journalism and since then he worked for the North Edinburgh News, The Southern Reporter, the Irish News Review and The Edinburgh Reporter. In addition he has been published in the Edinburgh Evening News and the Hibernian FC Programme.
Sometimes versatility can be a drawback as in Jack of all trades master of none but this is good business by hibs.
