Steve Culbert has been recruited to provide fly fishing coaching at the free family day hosted by Peeblesshire Trout Fishing Association on Saturday July 1.

Peebles-based Steve will be known to many as the regular coach at Loganlea Trout Fishery in The Pentalnds and he has an international clienetelle.

Many people from the Edinburgh area travel to fish The Tweed and the open day is for all children and adults interested in learning to fly fish.

It runs from 10am until 4pm at Kailzie Fishery near Cardrona and all equipment will be provided.

The fishery are running a BBQ and local company Fastflies.co.uk are supporting the day.

Meanwhile, on the river Bailiff Peter Reith reports good catch returns so far this season.

Season tickets for 23 miles of The Tweed and five miles on The Lynn Water are still available for this summer and cost only £33. There are concession tickets.

Day tickets are £8 available from various outlets including Orvis and Gamefish in Edinburgh, Fishers in Penicuik and the Tontine and Cardrona hotels.
