Redcar Bears supporters have been starved of success over the last few years however this seasons squad looks like it has the ability to change this.

There are six changes from the septet which finished last season and in have come established performers in Jason Garrity, former Glasgow Tigers and Berwick Bandits rider Ben Barker, Charles Wright and Richard Hall.

Alongside them are up-and-coming racers Ellis Perks and Coty Garcia another fomer Berwick and Glasgow racer.

Two of the new recruits have been forced to miss the SGB Premiership clash on Friday (tapes-up 7.30pm) against second-placed Edinburgh Monarchs at Armadale.

Jason Garrity and Charles Wright are both unavailable and Glasgow Tiger’s top performer so far this season, Richie Worrall, steps in for Garrity.

A rider replacement facility has been granted for Wright with all bar the aforementioned Worrall able to take an extra ride.

Graham Muncie, Monarchs’ press spokesman, said: “This does not look to weaken the Bears greatly.”

Parsons Peebles Monarchs co-promoter Alex Harkess is taking nothing for granted and he said: “It is almost too early to say much about Redcar as they have ridden so few matches.

“They have done well away holding Peterborough close and winning at Scunthorpe so we will need to be at the top of our game.”’
