Hibs’ Head coach Neil Lennon justified making TEN changes to his starting line up following the victory over relegation threatened Raith Rovers last night.
Fans of fellow relegation contenders St Mirren criticised Lennon on social media but Lennon was unconcerned and the performance of the ‘stand ins’, particularly 17-year-old Fraser Murray who was named sponsors Man of the Match showed that he was correct in is team selection.
Two goals from James Keatings and one from Grant Holt was enough to secure the three points in an exciting game watched by over 13,000 fans.
After the final whistle Lennon was asked about the ‘Buddies’ fans’ reaction:
He said: “I’m not interested in what St Mirren fans think, they should worry about their own team because they come here in ten days time.
“I was justified in my team selection, I think I was right to do it. Some players were itching to play, some young lads needed the experience.
“It was important to give them a game before the end of the season and they’ve all done themselves no harm at all.”
Lennon watched the game from the stand following the outcome of Tuesday’s SFA hearing, which saw him banned for two games after a dust up with Jim Duffy however he has no complaints.
He continued: “Yeah, I got a fair hearing, the result is what it is. “It’s over now, we can draw a line through it and just get on with things.”
John ‘Yogi’ Hughes said: “It was cruel. I felt we did enough to win the match.
“I feel for them but we need to do better than we did at their second and third goals.”
