Many people fish the Union Canal – myself included – near Edinburgh and I have recently received my membership card for The Scottish Federation of Coarse Angling (SFCA) which is accepted by Scottish Canals as a season ticket for the Lowland Canal network.
With it came a letter from SFCA chairman, Gus Brindle, who said that every membership helps to demonstrate growth and sustainability to sportscotland, securing the future as a governing body.
He added: “It also helps with meeting our commitments to the Strategic Framework for Scottish Freshwater Fisheries as the Angling Development Board of Scotland.
“It helps us to engage with Scottish Government and other key stakeholders to fight to protect the future of coarse angling in Scotland.”
Mr Brindle also used the communication to appeal for volunteers to help contribute some time to support the committee or to consider becoming a qualified coach.
