Hibs have appealed Darren McGregor’s red card and he will be available to play against Dunfermline at East End Park on Saturday.

On Wednesday night, in time added on, Morton  substitute Kudus Oyenuga’s reckless challenge on Jordon Forster in front of the Hibs’ dugout sparked mayhem on the pitch.

The Hibs’ captain confronted Oyenuga who disgracefully threw himself to the ground holding his face as if he had been headbutted.

Other players and staff from both sides became involved and in the video replay, McGregor can clearly be seen acting as a peacemaker.

When the dust settled referee Nick Walsh correctly sent off Oyenuga then consulted his linesman before flashing a red card to McGregor and sending both Neil Lennon and Jim Duffy to the stand.

McGregor’s appeal can not be heard until next Thursday and given the video evidence available which shows that the Englishman feigned injury, he is likely to be acquitted or at the very least the card downgraded to yellow.

Lennon and Duffy should also find out next week whether they will face further punishment for their conduct.
