Councillor Cammy Day until now the Vice Convener with responsibility for Housing in the city has just been appointed to the Education brief.
This comes after the resignation by Paul Godzik who has moved out of the city and who will continue as a councillor till the elections in May, but who was keen that someone else would take on the education convenership.
There are two new schools left to officially open following the opening of James Gillespie’s campus yesterday, and that honour will fall to Cllr Day.
The 1400 pupils of Portobello High School are just assembling at their new school building today and the new Boroughmuir High School is underway, though there are some delays in construction.
