Hibs’ Head Coach Neil Lennon has praised the discipline of his players and in particular Grant Holt in this afternoon’s 1-0 win over Dumbarton.

The winning goal came from Jason Cumming via the penalty spot, his 55th goal in 100 starts, but Lennon felt that he was ‘rusty’ following his trip away with Scotland Under 21s.

The ‘Sons beat Hibs twice last season at home and Lennon was happy with the performance on a tricky surface although he insisted that the game should have been wrapped up by half time.

The victory is Hibs fifth straight win in the Scottish Championship, the first time that the club have started this well for sixty years.

The players now have a great chance to make it six in a row when they face Ayr United at Easter Road next Saturday.

Hibs have the chance to pull clear of the chasing pack as second placed Queen of the South face third placed Raith Rovers.

After the game Lennon told Cliff Pike of Hibernian TV:”Our discipline was very good and we defended set pieces well.  I thought Grant Holt was outstanding today. If any young payers were watching then that’s how to play centre forward. He used all his experience today and I thought he was excellent.

“Jason (Cummings) was a bit rusty today. He could have had three today. He’s been away with Scotland and come back a bit off the pace but he has got his goal and won us the game but I wasn’t happy with aspects of his game and he needs to get better but I sometimes forget how young he is.

“It was a really difficult surface to play on, slow, dry, long and there are different ways to skin a cat and we have done that again today.

“Having said that we should have been out of sight at half time and it became a bit of a battle in the second half, but the players have shown a bit of grit. I can understand why we lost here last season, but we have come here and kept a clean sheet against a team who are very motivated against us.

“I think teams will struggle coming here. If it had rained it might have suited us better and made it quicker but it was dry and slow and bobbly.

“I’m very grateful for the three points but more importantly I am pleased with the mentality of the players.

“I’m very happy, that’s five wins out of five. It’s a brilliant win.
