BUTTERFLYBONANZA7-1

Earlier today customers flocked to a special event at B&Q Hermiston Gait in support of Butterfly Conservation’s Garden Butterfly Survey. The survey, which is sponsored by B&Q, asks people to record the butterflies they see in their gardens throughout the year.

The butterfly bonanza took place at the store in Hermiston Gait Retail Park, with nature-loving customers relishing the chance to learn about how to attract and spot the beautiful winged creatures within their own gardens.

B&Q horticulturalists encouraged customers to turn their own green spaces into havens for wildlife by giving demonstrations on how to attract butterflies, bugs and bees into their gardens with pollinating plants.

There was also a host of colourful and creative activity with craft workshops, a face-painter to transform kids into their favourite creepy-crawly and a balloon modeller twisting creatures from the bottom of the garden. Kids were challenged to hunt throughout the store for butterflies to win prizes, and parents were delighted to receive cash-value gift cards to spend in store.
