John McGinn has been voted Ladbrokes Championship Player of the Season for 2015/16.

The 21-year-old former St Mirren man enjoyed an outstanding campaign as the Easter Road side won the Scottish Cup and were League Cup runners up to Ross County.

On 29 March he made his debut for Scotland against Denmark in a 1-0 friendly win – in which he was awarded man of the match.

He has become a hugely popular player amongst the Hibs’ fans who have nicknamed him ‘Super John McGinn’ and dedicated a song in his honour.

The Ladbrokes awards are voted for by members of the Scottish media, with a Manager and a Player of the Year selected for each of the four divisions.

Speaking to Hibs TV McGinn said: “I’m delighted to get voted the best player in the league. It’s a massive achievement for me and I think it’s a big credit to all the boys in the dressing room.

“Even though I’ve been recognised personally, it’s a team award.”

“It has been a crazy season for me, the Scotland cap was something that was unexpected at the start of the season, but something I’m delighted with.

“Hopefully I can carry that on next season and get more accolades.”
