2011_10 Police signs 12

Police  are appealing for witnesses after a man was seriously assaulted within his flat in Musselburgh on Sunday night.

At around 7:40pm the 36-year-old was at home when three men entered the property on MacBeth Moir Road near its junction with Moir Drive and carried out a vicious assault.

The victim sustained an injury to his torso and was taken by ambulance to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for medical attention. He has since been discharged and is recovering at home.

Officers from Dalkeith CID are now carrying out inquiries into this matter and are today seeking the assistance of the public in an effort to trace those responsible.

In particular officers want to trace three males who were in the area around the time of this attack and who seen walking towards Haddington Road.

Detective Constable Ian McCandlish of Dalkeith CID said: “We’re satisfied this is an isolated incident, which has left the victim with significant injuries to his torso.

“From our inquiries so far we know there were three men seen in the area around the time of this violent attack and I want to speak to anyone who saw them or who can help identify them.”
