Liam Henderson insists that Hibs will always have a place in his heart following an enjoyable loan spell at the club.
The midfielder has become a huge favourite with the supporters since his move from Celtic in the summer and anyone who doubted his commitment need only look at his celebrations throughout the season.
The youngster who hails from West Lothian is looking forward to facing Rangers on Saturday although he accepts that Mark Warburton’s men are a good footballing side, but he believes that if he and his team mates can play to their potential then the trophy will finally return to Easter Road.
Speaking to Hibs TV, Henderson said: “I have a lot of people to thank around the club. Everybody has made me feel welcome and I am really grateful for that.
“I’d love to win the trophy, it would top off the best season I’ve ever had personally and it would be great to give something back to the fans and the club by giving them the victory. The manager will have a game plan and we will be going out to give our all.
“The loan spell for me has been brilliant, it’s been the best season for me so far in my short career so far. My celebrations are to do with the feelings I have for the boys in the dressing room and the fans as well and I want to show that it means something to me to play for this club and no matter what happens it will always have a place in my heart.
“I’m really looking forward to he final. It’s a massive game and something you watch as a boy so it should be a good day out for the players and fans. This is a special trophy for this club as they have not won it for a long time.
“Rangers are a good side. they are a footballing side who play football the correct way. They have a really good manager in Mark Warburton and Davie Weir as well and they have a lot of players who can hurt you as you can see from their semi-final against Celtic, but we will be out to give our best and hopefully our best will be enough.
“At the end of the day it’s a one off game and you can never predict a final.”
