Second place in the Championship will now go down to the last kick of the ball next Sunday.
Falkirk’s draw with Raith Rovers at Starks Park yesterday leaves the door open for Hibs to finish in second place however it is looking more likely that Alan Stubbs’ men will finish third and have to face Raith Rovers in a two legged play off quarter final.
With two minutes remaining at Starks Park it looked as though two home victories would be enough for Hibs but Falkirk striker Bob McHugh scored to give Falkirk a precious point.
Joel Thomas had given Raith Rovers the lead in seven minutes but The Bairns equalised in 56 minutes when McHugh set up Craig Sibbald to score.
A mistake from Blair Alston allowed Ryan Hardie in for his sixth goal of the season only for McHugh to earn the draw in the dying minutes.
Falkirk’s superior goal difference advantage over Hibs means they should clinch second place with a home win against Morton next weekend however Hibs could claw back the seven goal deficit against Dumbarton and Queen of the South.
