It was a gorgeous sunny day in Edinburgh yesterday and everyone at Musselburgh Races was having a ball – particularly the wee Shetland ponies who raced first. We had a word with last year’s winner ‘Idiot’ who told us he would win again – and he did!

The Edinburgh Reporter then had a word or two with commentator Robert Hogarth before the race to find out what was involved in this spectacular event:

The ODEON Cinema at Fort Kinnaird has marked its first anniversary, following a phenomenal first year at the popular shopping centre.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens led the way in attracting thousands of fans to the new cinema, with more than 13,300 customers returning to A Galaxy Far, Far Away in just the first seven days of the long-awaited film’s opening.

This success was closely followed by the renewed popularity of Daniel Craig’s James Bond, with SPECTRE attracting 11,670 viewers in its first seven days.

Ant Robinson, General Manager at ODEON Fort Kinnaird, said: “This has been an incredibly exciting first year for the ODEON at Fort Kinnaird.

“The success of epic releases such as StarWars and SPECTRE exceeded all expectations, with fans making the most of the fantastic location and incredible entertainment on offer.

“With ease of access from Edinburgh and East Lothian, plenty of free parking and the added bonus of all the shopping and restaurants for our customers, we continually hear from customers how fantastic it is to have a great cinema now serving this part of the Lothians.

“We’re now looking forward to an exciting next 12 months and welcoming many more customers to enjoy a great night out at the movies.”

Liam Smith, Centre Manager of Fort Kinnaird said: “The arrival of the ODEON has helped transform the offering at Fort Kinnaird. As part of our strategy to improve the centre, Fort Kinnaird is now more than a fantastic shopping destination, it is a leisure experience.

We know increasing numbers of customers enjoy a trip to the shops, then a meal at one of the many popular restaurants and a night at the cinema rounds it off perfectly.
