A 49-year-old man has been arrested and charged under the Misuse of Drugs Act after police in Midlothian recovered a quantity of Class B drugs in Bilston.

On Friday 18th March officers carried out a search of a unit within Bilston Glen Industrial Estate where they recovered cannabis plants and herbal matter estimated to have a street value in excess of £5,500.

He  will appear in court at a later date.

Sergeant Michele Lindsay said: “The recovery of this cannabis has ensured that it cannot be distributed within our communities and cause untold harm.

“Drug crime will not be tolerated in Midlothian and whenever we receive information relating to crimes of this nature we will investigate thoroughly and bring those responsible to justice.

“Anyone who wishes to come forward and report ongoing drug offences in their local area can do so by contacting us on 101 or make an anonymous report through the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
