Hibs dropped to six points behind second placed Falkirk last night after the ‘Bairns’ produced a sensational comeback from 2-0 down to win all three points at the Falkirk Stadium.
Rangers started brightly scoring two early goals before missing several excellent chances as they totally dominated the first half. After the break however Falkirk fought back and scored three times to consolidate second place although Hibs do have three games in hand.
Hibs travel to Kirkcaldy form the early evening game which will be shown live on BBC Alba knowing that they can not afford to drop any points.
Whoever finishes in second place will have two less games to play in the play offs as third and fourth placed teams meet and with Hibs possibly being involved in the Scottish Cup final should they overcome Dundee United in the semi-final, Alan Stubbs” men could face a fixture pile-up at the end of the campaign.
Rangers felt hard done by last night and speaking to RangersTV after the match former Hibs’ striker Kenny Miller said: “The manager keeps saying that the players will get the rewards that our play deserves and I don’t think that we got that tonight.
“We definitely should have scored more goals and been further ahead and the game should have been put to bed.
“As much as we never played the way that we play and do the right things that we normally do and have worked on all season, we still had a couple of chances I think that could have put the game to bed, but we never.”
“When you keep missing chances, it always gives your opposition encouragement, particularly when it’s 2-0 because you can always nick a goal and you’re back into it with an opportunity.
“There’s nothing that we can do about this game now, all we can do is focus on next week and make sure that in front of a full house at Ibrox we go and put a performance on and get the right result.”
