Hearts Ladbrokes SPFL Premiership match against Patrick Thistle was postponed today because of a waterlogged pitch.

Following the snow which fell in Edinburgh for most of Saturday morning, referee Bobby Madden inspected the Tynecastle pitch around 1.15pm and judged it to be unfit for play, with several areas covered in water.

While the decision was the correct one there was disappointment among the Hearts support, many of whom travel to Gorgie from outside the capital city, at the late call-off. Perhaps the root of their disappointment was the comment on social media from the official Hearts Twitter account around 11.00pm which said ‘folks, there’s no pitch inspection planned this afternoon – very much game on here at Tynecastle!’

Barely two hours later it was very much game off causing inconvenience to thousands of Hearts supporters and those travelling Partick Thistle fans.

An announcement on the re-arranged date for the fixture will be announced in due course.
