Canal View Primary has a new library

We will have more for you later today on the council’s budget for the next financial year, which will be agreed upon next week, but meantime the budget consultation has been lauded as a huge success.

There were a total of 4183 responses, up 31% on last year, relating to a variety of topics such as parking charges, school music tuition, allotments, library services, waste collections and council tax.

Following the untimely death of rock star David Bowie earlier in the week Edinburgh along with the rest of the world is reacting by turning to his music and work. Tonight there is a charity concert at the Citrus Club on Grindlay Street to remember the great music, and perhaps give people the opportunity of sharing their grief. It was only last week that the club marked his birthday with a Bowie night.

The Cancer Research UK Snowflake Run will take place in the capital on 21 February. This is the first ever 10K to raise money for the charity and it will be held in Holyrood Park where the organisers promise there will be falling snow!

Edinburgh author Lari Don visited Canal View Primary School on Monday to officially open the new library there. The children’s author said: “I am delighted to open this library. I cannot stress enough the importance of reading books for children of all ages.”
