Following the untimely death of rock star David Bowie earlier in the week Edinburgh along with the rest of the world is reacting by turning to his music and work. Tonight there is a charity concert at the Citrus Club on Grindlay Street to remember the great music, and perhaps give people the opportunity of sharing their grief. It was only last week that the club marked his birthday with a Bowie night.

More details here.

Also at the Cameo tomorrow evening they are showing Labyrinth on the big screen for real Bowie fans.

The Cancer Research UK Snowflake Run will take place in the capital on 21 February. This is the first ever 10K to raise money for the charity and it will be held in Holyrood Park where the organisers promise there will be falling snow!

Are you planning on taking part? Then tell us where your fundraising page is and we will feature you in our Five things article!

Our Rosemary Kaye has reinstated a weekly What’s On listing due to overwhelming demand for it.

Last week she managed to find 77 things to do in Edinburgh this week – if you are organising an event then do email her to tell her about it. rosemary@theedinburghreporter.co.uk

Edinburgh author Lari Don visited Canal View Primary School on Monday to officially open the new library there. The children’s author said: “I am delighted to open this library. I cannot stress enough the importance of reading books for children of all ages.”

The children were involved in the design of the new room and you can see more here.
