A man who was reported to the Procurator Fiscal for a number of road offences that took place within West Lothian earlier this month has been jailed.
Police were alerted to a Subaru Impreza being driven around the Fauldhouse area by a potentially disqualified driver on the morning of Saturday 5th January.
Following inquiries by Road Policing Officers, the car was located on the M8 motorway, near junction three a short time later and was pursued onto the M9 where it travelled at excessive speed while undertaking a number of other vehicles.
The Subaru was subsequently recovered outside an address in Torphicen and 30-year-old Sean Potter was reported for driving while disqualified, driving with no insurance, dangerous driving and failing to stop for police.
At Livingston Sheriff Court on Tuesday 12th January he was given an eight-month prison sentence and an eight-year diving disqualification.
A 23-year-old woman has also been reported to the Procurator Fiscal in connection with this incident.
Inspector Richard Latto from the Road Policing Unit said: “As part of our ongoing commitment to road safety, Road Policing Officers regularly monitor all main arterial routes throughout the country to positively influence road user behaviour, identify collision related motoring offences, target travelling criminals and bring those responsible to justice.
“Thanks to information originally provided by members of the public, we were able to trace and recover this Subaru, resulting in two people being reported to the Procurator Fiscal and one male receiving a prison sentence and driving disqualification.
“We will continue to provide a visible presence on the road network to keep motorists, passengers and pedestrians safe through enforcement of road traffic legislation and the provision of advisory information on responsible road practices.”
