FINDOpen UK makes finding what is open or closed very easy indeed
Edinburgh is we know one of the best places to visit in Scotland – and for many reasons.
But finding your way around is absolutely key to enjoying the city and what it has to offer. For visitors sometimes the sheer number of stores, restaurants and hotspots can be overwhelming, even to seasoned travellers.
www.find-open.co.uk is an online register of shops, offices, clinics and convenience stores in the city as well as pubs, inns, hotels, bars and restaurants in the country.
With their recently updated section for Edinburgh they have become one of the most effective ways of finding your nearest meal, drink or shopping spree on your mobile phone.
The site itself is beautifully designed – three simple fields let you define your position and what kind of place you are looking for, and within seconds you are given a list of places all sorted by distance from your location.
Further links send you to the homepage of the business in question or let you plan your route via GoogleMaps. The search field is intelligent, so that entering both a suggested category (such as “pharmacies”), as well as random keywords (i.e.: “pizza”) gave us the correct list straight away.
What we found particularly useful was the timer shown prominently next to every result.
This clearly states when the chosen business would close and will be very helpful for locals as well as visitors, especially when it comes to bars and pubs in the city centre.
With people from all over the world coming to visit Edinburgh we cannot expect them to acquaint themselves with local opening hours – and this is where find-open.co.uk could become a valuable tool for planning your shopping and entertainment.
