Hibs’ on-loan midfielder Liam Henderson is looking forward to returning to competitive action after an extended training period due to the international break.

The two weeks off has also allowed injured team mates to regain their fitness so the competition for places will be stiff but the teenager is hoping that his performances so far will persuade Alan Stubbs of his worth to the team.

Henderson has quickly become a fans’ favourite since his move from Celtic due to his ‘eye for a goal,’ scoring three times already.

He told Hibernian TV: “It’s been good to get the break. we’ve been training and and looking forward to getting back on the pitch on Saturday.

“I know two of the Dumbarton players who are on loan from Celtic who are very good players although I don’t know much about the rest of the team. It will be a tough game but the manager will have a plan and the boys are raring to get back out and play.

“We’ve been working with the ball and looking  to  break fast and penetrate and get a lot of goals. First and foremost we need to work hard and put in a shift because that’s what they are going to do.

“I’ve loved being at Hibs so far. All the boys have been brilliant with me since I came in and that’s me settled in now so it will be a long season but one that I am looking forward to and keep building on my performances and keep giving the manager stuff back after he has put his faith in me.

“I’m looking to play as many games as I can and goals are something I have been looking to add to my game  and the manager has given e the freedom to go and get in the box and try and get goals and that is something I am hoping to build on this season.
