Glenogle Baths revamped and reopened to the public

At 10:00am this morning the members of the Transport and Environment Committee will convene in the Dean of Guild Court Room at the City Chambers. You are all invited, either in person or on the webcast which you will find here.

One of the decisions which the committee may take this morning is to put in place enforcement measures for trade waste. This will ensure that traders in the city comply with measures to ensure trade waste containers do not lie on the street 24 hours a day.

The Edinburgh Reporter will be at the meeting and will report other important decisions as they are taken.

The papers for the meeting can be found here.

The Bike Station has a crowdfunder underway, and you only have until 30 October to contribute £10 or more. They have some way to go as they have not raised £1,000 as yet. Contribute here!

“Balance Bike Project is all about the balance bikes which we’d love to provide to all local authority nurseries in the City of Edinburgh.”

The gym and studio at Glenogle Swim Centre in Stockbridge has reopened ahead of schedule following the first stage of a £55k facelift.

The gym, weights room and fitness studio now has:

A new squat rack, benches and equipment in the weights room

New flooring in the gym, fitness studio and weights room

Painting in all areas

Brand new, top spec cardiovascular equipment in the gym will also be installed in December 2015.

David McLean, Fitness Manager at Edinburgh Leisure said: By the end of this year Edinburgh Leisure will have invested £1m in top of the range fitness equipment in five of our fifteen gyms.

We want to offer our members and customers the opportunity to use the best fitness equipment that rivals any of our competitors. We are therefore constantly reviewing what we have on offer and our range of fitness and activity centres across the city are encouraging Edinburgh folk to lead healthier, more active lifestyles with the latest technology and equipment available.

In the heart of the city centre, between Canonmills and Stockbridge, Glenogle Swim Centre is something of a rare breed, a hark back to Victorian baths but with a modern twist. Fully refurbished in 2010, Glennies boasts a beautifully restored Victorian swimming pool and a gym with state of the art equipment and new free weights room, fitness studio, sauna and steam room.
