The Scottish FA Compliance Officer Tony McGlennan is to review comments made by Hearts Head Coach Robbie Neilson in the wake of the Gorgie club’s controversial 3-2 defeat at Hamilton Academical on Saturday.

As predicted by The Edinburgh Reporter, Neilson will be asked to explain his post-match comments after referee Willie Collum sent off Hearts defender Callum Paterson, a decision which seemed incorrect to most of the crowd who were there. This view was strengthened by television footage which appears to show that Collum – who has sent off 9 Hearts players in the 36 time he has officiated Hearts games – had made a serious error of judgement.

After the game Neilson told the press: “The game has been ruined by a decision that is not a sending-off.

“We actually practised during the week going down to 10 men because of the environment we’re coming to and the officials who are taking the game.”

While Neilson awaits the call from the SFA, it comes as a surprise to no one that Hearts intend to appeal against the straight red card shown to Paterson.
