Hibs’ Development Squad started their pre-season in style with a 4-1 victory over near neighbours Ormiston at the Training Centre yesterday.
Second half goals from Jack Breen, Adam Watson, Oli Shaw gave Hibs a three goal lead before Michael Osborne pulled a goal back for Ormiston with six minutes remaining.
In the closing minutes, Jordan Sinclair celebrated his 19th birthday by adding a fourth with a sensational-strike from 25 yards into the top corner of the net.
Afterwards U20 Development coach Joe McBride told the club website: “There was not a lot of tempo to the game and the pitch was a bit sticky as it can be at this time of year.
“It was great to get through it, most of them played 90 minutes and I think it showed near the end as there were a few tired legs and some poor decisions.
“I was pleased that our boys got through it and scored four goals, so I am quite happy.
“We had a few 17 year olds in our team that are still in the process of growing, they don’t have much meat on their bones at the minute, but I thought we done okay.
“We asked them before the game to try and take the physical side of the game away by moving the ball quickly and not letting them get close to us, so we done okay. Towards the end, when they got a bit tired, they started giving them a few tackles – but I’m quite happy.”
