Family Fun Weekend to step back in time and celebrate 125 years of the Forth Bridge as part of Forth Bridges Festival 2015

Vintage lovers across Fife, Edinburgh and the Lothians are in for a treat this July when a retro-themed Family Fun Weekend rolls into South Queensferry as part of the Forth Bridges Festival 2015.

Scots from both sides of the water are being urged to snap up tickets for the two-day spectacular on July 25 and 26, which will include a Dance through Time and Vintage Tea Party.

The Dance through Time – to be held on Saturday, July 25 – will bring families together under one roof for an evening of fancy dress to a soundtrack of music from the 20s, 50s and 70s.

Revellers are invited to dress up from the Flapper Girl, Teddy Boy and Crazy Disco eras of the 20s, 50s and 70s and enjoy an evening of entertainment, complete with hog roast and licensed bar, in the Family Fun Marquee at Hawes Car Park.

The Vintage Tea Party – to be held on Sunday, July 26 – will include a traditional afternoon tea of sandwiches and berry-packed scones, as well as entertainment from the Forth Valley Chorus and Ballroom dancing demonstrations.

Other highlights during the course of the weekend will include a food and drink market; culinary demonstrations; a cook-off between top chefs from both sides of the Forth; exhibitions; competitions; vintage memorabilia, Helter Skelter, and a packed entertainment programme designed to celebrate 125 years of the Forth Bridge.

The event, which is being part-funded by the Community Food Fund as part of Scotland’s Year of Food & Drink, is being laid on by Business Improvement District Queensferry Ambition following the success of last year’s festival, which saw more than 10,000 local people turn out to join in the fun.

Queensferry Ambition Chair Malcolm Brown said: “We are delighted once again to have created another Bridges Festival – this time honouring the Forth Bridge.

“Last year’s festival was a great success and attracted thousands of visitors to the town as well as entertaining the local community.

“Once again, Queensferry Ambition, backed by so many great local businesses and organisations, is putting Queensferry on the map and bringing enjoyment to people of all ages.”
