A young girl fell down the rocks at the ruins of Dunbar Castle this afternoon sparking a multi-agency response to rescue her.
A spokesman for Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said that they were called at around 3:00pm by the Scottish Ambulance Service to assist with the rescue.
A 16 year-old female fell 50 feet onto the rocks below Dunbar Castle ruins in East Lothian and has sustained multiple injuries.
The fire crew gave the casualty oxygen and she was then air lifted to Royal Infirmary Edinburgh. It is believed that she has suffered injuries to her neck, that she may have a suspected broken leg, and suspected head and spinal injuries.

This afternoon’s rescue became a joint mission along with coastguard, ambulance and the RAF Search and Rescue service who airlifted the teenager to hospital.
Fire crews from Dunbar, East Linton and a specialist line rescue team from Newcraighall were all in attendance at the scene, and although a crew from Edinburgh was en route they were turned back.
